Care Show London Stand Builders: ExCeL Logistics, the Care Decision-Maker, and What Wins
Care Show London is a leading event for the UK social-care sector, held each spring at ExCeL London. It brings care-home owners and managers, operators, nurses, clinical leads and local-authority decision-makers together with the suppliers serving them — care technology and software, equipment, recruitment, training, supplies and services.
The audience is practical and outcome-focused, often buying on behalf of vulnerable residents and tight budgets, so the brief is demonstrate plus reassure: show clearly how your product improves care or eases a provider's workload, and give your team space for the considered, trust-led conversation these decisions involve. Care buyers respond to substance and credibility, not gloss.
Because providers attend to solve real operational problems, the stand that helps them see a solution quickly — and talk it through properly — is the one that earns the enquiry.
For a care supplier that means a stand that earns trust quickly and then holds a proper conversation: show the benefit plainly, and give a busy provider somewhere to sit and work out whether it fits their service. The suppliers who win here lead with evidence and reassurance, not a sales pitch.
Building at ExCeL London: the rules that shape your stand
ExCeL is a pillar-free hall with around 10m of clear internal height, but your stand does not get all of it. For space-only stands the working height limit at most ExCeL shows is 6m, and anything ExCeL classes as a complex structure — double-deckers, heavy suspended elements, long unsupported spans — triggers a formal sign-off you need to budget time for, not just money.
Complex designs must be submitted with engineering calculations applying a minimum factor of safety of 1.5. An independent structural engineer reviews the drawings and, if satisfied, issues a Certificate of Structural Adequacy at design stage, which releases your Certificate to Build; the same engineer inspects the stand on site during build-up before you can open. Miss a calculation or submit late and you do not build.
Overhead rigging is controlled tightly: all primary rigging to the ceiling is installed exclusively by ExCeL's own team, ordered through ExCeL's webshop and confirmed around 28 days before tenancy for the advance rate. Lightweight static items hang from drop wires up to 50kg; heavier loads are separate, costlier orders.
The smaller rules catch people out too: platforms above 170mm need ramped, accessible access; solid walls along an open gangway edge are generally not allowed; only water-based paint may be used on site; and every structure must be fully self-supporting. We design to all of this from the first sketch and submit the venue paperwork, so the build you approve is the build that opens.
What a winning care-sector stand needs
The strongest stands here are clear, credible and easy to engage with. We design a frontage that states who you are and what you do for a care provider in a glance, space to show or demonstrate the product — equipment, a software workflow, a service — and a comfortable area for the conversation that matters, because care purchasing decisions are considered and people-led. A professional, trustworthy build reassures a sector that takes its responsibilities seriously.
Lead capture is built into the flow, because care sales typically progress in the follow-up rather than closing on the day, so we make it quick and natural rather than a barrier to the conversation.
Accessibility is part of good design at a care show too: an open, easy-to-enter stand with clear sightlines suits an audience that values inclusive, practical environments, and it quietly signals that you understand the sector.
Designing for a considered, trust-led decision
Care decision-makers buy carefully, often for vulnerable people and under budget pressure, so they want evidence and a proper conversation, not a hard sell. We design the stand to feel approachable and credible, with space to demonstrate, real proof points, and a calm spot for the discussion. For products that are chosen slowly — software, equipment, a service contract — we make the takeaway material and the captured enquiry easy.
Showing the benefit matters: a working demo of how a product saves staff time, improves safety or supports residents does far more than a list of features for an audience focused on real-world outcomes.
We also design the stand so a manager can have an unhurried conversation without feeling watched, because care decisions are discussed candidly — budgets, staffing, resident needs — and a comfortable, semi-private spot earns more honest enquiries.
What a Care Show London stand costs
A turnkey stand typically runs roughly £3,950–£12,500 for a compact custom build, £12,500–£28,000 for a mid-size build with demo and meeting space, and £28,000 and up for a flagship build. The quote is turnkey — design, build, graphics, lighting, delivery to ExCeL, install, dismantle and the venue paperwork are all included — and any product demo, AV and finish quality move the number most.
The spend that pays back here is in a credible, clear stand that demonstrates value and captures enquiries well, not in spectacle — a care audience rewards substance and reassurance.
What you don't pay extra for is in the turnkey figure — material handling, electrical, rigging — so your budget goes on demonstrating value clearly, not on surprises.
Stand sizes and layouts
Stands run from compact spaces for first-time and specialist suppliers up to large builds for major equipment, software and service providers. The layout balances an inviting, clearly relevant frontage with the demo and conversation space behind, so we put the hook and product where the aisle sees it and keep a calmer area for the considered discussion. Open and corner positions help on a busy two-day floor.
Whatever the size, we light and present the product well, because a clean, professional stand makes equipment or a service look like the dependable choice it is to a careful, responsible audience.
And because providers often visit in pairs or small teams, a stand that comfortably holds a short group conversation converts better than one built for a single visitor at a time.
Getting into ExCeL: build-up timing
Care Show London sits in a busy spring run at ExCeL, so material-handling, rigging and the electrical contractor book up early and late orders attract surcharges. We confirm your space-only window, book rigging at the advance rate (around 28 days out), coordinate power for any demos with the appointed contractor, and crate to a slot that lands the stand finished and ready before the two-day run begins.
Reusing your stand between editions
Care-sector suppliers exhibit across a calendar of regional and national care shows, so a modular, reusable stand is sound economics. We store the core, refresh the graphics and product display for each edition, and keep your layout and contractor orders on file — so you can exhibit across the series with a consistent, current stand rather than a rebuild, and scale as your range grows.
We also keep the product display and proof points current between editions, because the care sector moves on regulation and best practice, and a stand that reflects this year's standards lands better than one that doesn't.
