The Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show Stand Builders: NEC Logistics, the Leisure Buyer, and What Wins Sales
The Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show is the UK's biggest start-of-year showcase for the outdoor-leisure industry, held across six days each February at the NEC Birmingham — the next edition runs 16–21 February 2027. It fills several halls with more than 420 exhibitors and draws around 100,000 visitors comparing new-season motorhomes, campervans, caravans, tents, holiday homes and accessories.
The audience is consumers — enthusiasts and families researching and often buying a major leisure purchase — so the brief is display plus sell: present the vehicles and products so people can step inside and compare, and give your team room to talk a serious buyer through a sale or a show-only deal. Much of the floor is given over to actual vehicles, which makes this a very physical build with real logistics behind it.
It's a long, high-footfall show, so the stand has to look inviting from the aisle and work hard for six full days.
For a dealer, manufacturer or accessory brand that means a stand built to show product and close on the day: an inviting, walk-around display and enough space and staff to turn a browser into a buyer against a show-only deal. The exhibitors who sell well here design for both the look and the close.
Building at NEC Birmingham: the rules that shape your stand
The NEC is the UK's largest exhibition venue — big, flat, pillar-free halls with generous height — which is what makes it suited to large stands and double-deckers. Space-only stands typically build to 6m, and anything the NEC classes as a complex structure (double-deck, raised platforms over a certain height, heavy suspended elements) needs structural drawings and calculations approved ahead of the show.
The NEC publishes a detailed technical e-Guide and operates appointed contractors for rigging and electrics: rigging is ordered through the venue's official rigging supplier by the published deadline, and power is ordered from the appointed electrical contractor. Order late and you pay on-site surcharges during the busiest build days. We file these the day a design is signed off.
Accessibility and fire rules apply as everywhere: raised floors need ramped edges, materials must be fire-retardant to the venue standard, and finishes are completed off-site because in-hall fabrication is limited. The NEC's scale also makes logistics the variable that decides your build week — marshalling-yard timing and hall access windows are tight in peak season, so we crate and schedule to land your stand inside its slot.
What a winning leisure-show stand needs
Most exhibitors here are displaying vehicles or large products, so the stand is really a setting that shows them at their best: clean, well-lit space that lets visitors walk around and step inside, clear branding and pricing, and somewhere for your team to sit a buyer down and talk numbers. We design the layout around the vehicles or product on show, with sightlines that pull people in and a sales or info point that doesn't block the flow.
For accessory and service exhibitors, it's the same logic in miniature: a clear product display, an easy way to demonstrate, and a spot to take payment or capture a lead — because plenty of buying happens on the day at this show, often against a show-only offer.
Pricing and offers need to be visible and clear, because consumers here compare across the hall and a show-only deal only works if a passer-by can see it — so we design the offer into the stand rather than leaving it to a hand-held sign.
Showing vehicles — the logistics that matter
Displaying caravans, motorhomes or large equipment turns the stand into a logistics exercise as much as a design one. We plan vehicle access and positioning, the floor protection and loading the NEC requires, and the power each vehicle needs, all from the first drawing — and coordinate move-in so vehicles and stand come together cleanly during the NEC's build-up rather than colliding on the day.
Because the NEC has firm marshalling-yard and hall-access schedules, we book your build-up slot and order power and services through the NEC's appointed contractors before the deadlines, so a vehicle-heavy stand isn't held up in the yard during a busy build week.
And because a vehicle that won't fit through the doors or onto the stand is a disaster on build day, we confirm dimensions, access routes and weights against the NEC's specifications before anything is finalised.
What a stand here costs
A turnkey stand typically runs roughly £3,950–£12,500 for a compact custom build, £12,500–£28,000 for a mid-size build with vehicle or product display and a sales area, and £28,000 and up for a large, multi-vehicle flagship. The quote is turnkey — design, build, graphics, flooring, lighting, delivery to the NEC, install, dismantle and the venue paperwork are all included — and the size, the vehicle staging and the finish move the number most.
For a consumer sales show, the spend that pays back is in a clean, inviting setting that shows the product well and gives you room to close — not in spectacle for its own sake.
What you don't pay extra for is in the turnkey figure — flooring, material handling, electrical and vehicle staging — so the number you sign covers the things a vehicle-heavy stand can otherwise get caught out by.
Stand sizes and layouts
Stands range from compact spaces for accessory and service suppliers up to very large pitches for dealers and manufacturers staging several vehicles. The layout balances open, walk-around display with a sales and advice area, so we keep the vehicles or products where the aisle sees them and a calmer spot for the buying conversation. Open and corner positions help you catch a six-day consumer crowd.
Whatever the size, we light and present the product well, because a clean, well-lit setting makes a vehicle or a piece of kit look like the considered purchase it is to a buyer comparing options across the hall.
Across a six-day run, a stand that lets several visitors browse and several conversations run at once is what turns big footfall into real sales, so we design for flow and staffing as much as for looks.
Getting into the NEC: build-up timing
A six-day show with vehicle move-in is a serious build, so the NEC schedule is tight and unforgiving of late orders. We confirm your build-up slot, plan vehicle access and floor loading, order power and services through the NEC's contractors before the deadlines (late orders attract surcharges), and crate and stage to a schedule that lands the stand and vehicles ready before the doors open to the crowd.
Reusing your stand between editions
The show is an annual fixture and many dealers and brands exhibit at several leisure shows through the year, so a modular, reusable stand is excellent value. We store the core, refresh the graphics and product staging for each edition, and keep your vehicle-access and services plan on file — so you can exhibit across the season with a consistent, current stand rather than rebuilding each time.
Because the touring season has several shows, a stand that travels and rebuilds cleanly between them is worth far more than a one-off, and we plan the vehicle staging to repeat easily at each venue.
